Next Generation of Portal Software

What are your typical conceptions of web portal software? Recently, blogging software has been very popular to post a public diary and venue for social commentary. The ASP Nuke project seeks to broaden the applications that portal software are used for by providing higher level functionality found in the most popular portal applications.

My primary thought is to make ASP Nuke focus on communities such as non-profit organizations, company intranets or personal/hobby sites. This would be a great value to a large number of people including Schools, Churches, Sports Organizations, Political Groups, Governments and Businesses.

So far, interest in ASP Nuke has been weak at best. I would like to take this opportunity to ask for suggestions on what would be the best way to promote the use of ASP Nuke and turn it into something that would be extremely useful to everyone.

As it stands now, ASP Nuke is great to use as a news site similar to the ever popular Slashdot.org web site. I guess the first order of business will be to focus on communities and create modules like an event calendar, event planning tools, personal profiles and a messaging system.
